Free tools: what each one does

Updated October 14, 2026

Check one page, no sign-up

The free accessibility check tests the address you enter in a real browser against WCAG 2.2 A and AA, and shows the main problems of that page in plain words. The result of the same page is kept for 24 hours, and the number of free checks per visitor is limited to protect the service. It is a first look at one page, not a check of the whole site: for that, add the site to your account.

Tools for designers and developers

  • HTML accessibility checker. Paste a snippet or a page and see the problems axe-core finds in it. It runs in your browser and nothing is sent to our server. Scripts of the pasted code are not run.
  • Contrast checker. Two colours against the WCAG contrast levels.
  • Palette contrast checker. Every pair of your brand colours at once, so you see which combinations are safe for text.
  • Readability checker. Sentence length and reading ease of a text in seven languages. Where no published formula exists for a language, no score is shown.

Tools for the EAA

  • EAA checker. Three questions to see whether the law applies to you, then a check of a page.
  • Accessibility statement generator. Answer a few questions and get a draft of the accessibility information in seven languages, as HTML or plain text.

Knowledge base

The rule library explains every automated check with how to fix it, and the WCAG pages describe the success criteria in plain words. All tools are also listed on one page.

What they cannot do

Free tools show part of the problems and do not replace a manual review. None of them confirms that a site meets the EAA, the ADA or any other law.
