Pandus vs accessiBe
accessiBe sells accessWidget, an overlay: a script on your site that applies automated fixes to the page in the visitor's browser. Pandus works the other way round: it does not change your site, but checks every page every week and tells you, in plain words, what to fix in the theme, templates and content.

The FTC order
On 22 April 2025 the US Federal Trade Commission finalised an order requiring accessiBe to pay $1 million. Under the order the company may not claim that its automated products can make any website conform to WCAG, or keep it conformant over time, unless it has evidence to support the claim. The FTC also said accessiBe had formatted third-party articles and reviews to look like independent opinions without disclosing its connection to them (FTC press release).
The Overlay Fact Sheet, signed by more than a thousand accessibility practitioners, states that no overlay product on the market can make a website fully conform to any existing accessibility standard. Our longer explanation is in why overlays are not a solution.
What accessiBe offers
- Quick to start. One script brings automated scans and fixes to every page, repeated every 24 hours.
- Documentation. Every plan includes an accessibility report with documentation and support by help centre, email and chat.
- Services on higher plans. Growth adds litigation support and multi-account management; Scale adds an attorney consultation and yearly manual testing by experts.
Where Pandus is different
- The fix stays in your code. Problems are fixed in the theme and content, so they are fixed for every visitor, every tool and every search engine — not only in browsers that run the script.
- Clear about limits. Pandus is an automated check, not a full audit, and not legal advice. We do not sell protection from claims.
- Reports the owner can act on. Each problem comes with who it affects and how to fix it on the platform the shop uses, in the owner's language.
- Agencies. White-label reports for 10, 25 or 50 client sites at published prices.
Moving from an overlay to real fixes
- Run a free check of your key pages, if possible on a copy of the site without the widget.
- Fix the critical and serious problems first, usually in the theme: button and field labels, contrast, alt text.
- Test by hand what automation cannot judge, using our WCAG 2.2 checklist.
- Decide whether the widget still adds anything for your visitors; many people already have these settings in their browser or operating system.
More options are listed in alternatives to accessiBe and other overlays; all comparisons are on Pandus compared.
