What makes up the price of an audit?
- Sample: the number of page templates (home, category, product, basket, checkout, account) and journeys to walk through. This is the biggest factor.
- Methods: whether there are manual tests with a screen reader, and on which browsers and devices (desktop, iOS, Android).
- Report: whether each problem has a location, a priority and a recommendation for the developer.
- Extras: a session to discuss results, an accessibility statement, implementation consultations.
- Re-audit: a second check after the fixes. In one price list it is not included and usually costs no more than 50% of the first audit.
Code fixes in the shop are usually priced separately.
Audit, manual test or automated check?
| Automated check | Audit | |
|---|---|---|
| Who does it | a tool, e.g. axe-core | a specialist with tools |
| What it finds | errors detectable in code | both kinds, including keyboard and screen reader use |
| Cost | free or in a subscription | one-off, from a few hundred to a few thousand zloty |
| How often | weekly or after a change | at launch or a rebuild |
Automated tools find only part of the problems: in a test by the UK Government Digital Service (GDS), the best tool found about 40% of the deliberately introduced errors and all tools together 71%. A sensible order is therefore: automated check and removal of simple errors first, then a manual test of the purchase path, and a full audit for a bigger change to the shop. More: accessibility audit for online shops.
Is an audit mandatory, and does it give a certificate?
The act on ensuring that certain products and services meet accessibility requirements (Dz.U. 2024 item 731) does not require an external audit. It requires the provider to carry out an assessment of the service (Article 32(1)) and to publish accessibility information about the service (Article 32(2), point 1). The act does not mention a website certificate as proof of compliance, so treat a "certificate" offer as the provider's own document, not a guarantee towards a supervisory authority. Details: the Polish accessibility act. Services of micro-entrepreneurs are excluded from it.
What to ask a provider before ordering
- Which standard and version: WCAG 2.2 AA or 2.1 AA, and whether the result is mapped to EN 301 549.
- Which sample: whether it covers basket, checkout, payment and account.
- Which methods: screen reader, keyboard, mobile devices.
- What the report contains: location, priority, recommendation.
- Whether a re-audit is included, and if not, what it costs.
- What exactly a "certificate" or "statement" covers, and whether the provider says what the audit does not cover.
- Whether the price is net or gross and how long the offer is valid.
Be careful with offers that promise full compliance after installing an overlay; why overlays do not work is explained on the page about accessibility widgets.
How to reduce the cost of an audit
- Remove simple errors first: a free check of one page finds missing labels, contrast and text alternatives in minutes.
- Collect information about the platform (theme, plugins, custom changes) and prepare a test environment with a customer account.
- Order a representative sample: a few templates, not hundreds of subpages. Many errors sit in templates, so one fix repairs hundreds of pages.
Pandus checks websites automatically against WCAG 2.2 AA and monitors them weekly; subscription prices are on the pricing page. It is an automated check, not a full audit, and not legal advice.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a website accessibility audit cost in Poland?
In the public price lists we checked on 14 October 2026, net prices start at PLN 750 for 5 subpages and go up to PLN 6,000 for 10 subpages; for online shops they run from PLN 2,000 to PLN 10,000. Prices depend on the provider and the scope.
Is a re-audit after the fixes included?
Not at one of the providers whose price lists we checked: the price excludes a re-audit, which usually costs no more than 50% of the first audit. Always ask before you order.
How does an audit differ from an automated check?
An automated check scans the page code with a tool and finds only part of the problems. An audit adds manual tests: keyboard, screen reader, zoom.
Does an accessibility certificate protect against a fine?
The act does not provide a website accessibility certificate or treat it as proof of compliance. It requires an assessment of the service (Article 32(1)) and information for consumers.
Does Pandus carry out audits?
No. Pandus is an automated check and weekly monitoring, not a full audit and not legal advice. A one-page check is free.
